Alfa 156 2.0 JTS

Introducing myself

Hi Guys & Girls

A quick info on myself ....

Bought 2 Alfasud Sprint Veloces back in early 80's when only 18. Loved the cars, the power but hated the bodies rusting away!!

Then drove boring Ford's, Vauxhall's & Renaults for over 20 years, until last October when now 40, bought my 02 Alfa 156 2.0 JTS.

The car is fantastic, looks fantastic, drives fantastic - basically fantastic and yes I am an Alfa nut!!!

Well what else can I say, I work in the motor trade, trained as an electronics guy, been working for the last 15 years, in supporting independant garages and mechanics. Training mechanics on using diagnostic equipment (scopes, meters & fault code equipment), writing technical info on how to test vehicle systems, and manning helplines on assitance on repairing vehicle faults.

So should i have bought and drive an Alfa .... hmmm tough one but the heart and spirit rules the head ... so back to Alfa's it is!!

Any problems on 156 2.0 JTS to report - well only a minor one!!

The centre console display kept saying "drive control motor failure - contact dealer" first thing in morning when driving onto by-pass near to where I live. Fault codes indicating lambda sensors, knock sensors & ignition coils. Vehicle done 55K but decided to change spark plugs (not due to 60K). No more messages and fault codes for over a month!

Therefore suggest to forum users - change spark plugs around 40 to 50K time.

My Alfa was not miss-firing but when sparkplugs taken out showed signs of wear (larger gaps between 2 outer electrodes to centre electrode) which affected the spark strength and burning in the cylinders.

Ok enough from me ... hope I have not bored everyone!
