New to the forum, my first post
Hi like-minded Alfa nuts,
I am new to this forum but not to the site which I have visited many times as a guest. I am not a new Alfa owner either, I bought a GT in January this year after a miserable five year spell driving a Seat, not that it was a bad car, it was very good but it wasn't an Alfa. I bought my first Alfa in 1998, a 33 1.7IE and that was it, I had it tuned by an excellent specialist and that beautiful boxer engine sang to me all the way home - I was hooked. Three years later I bought a later 33 1.7IE, then after another 3 years I switched to a 146 1.8TS. In 2008 I upgraded to a 147 1.9JTDm, it was a 4 year old car but I had told Allams of Epsom precisely what I was looking for and they tracked it down exactly. It was a great car but an idiot in front of me did an emergency stop to let a passenger off at a bus stop and caught me out. My perfect Alfa now needed ironing at the front end but the insurance company wasn't having any of it and wrote it off. I was so gutted that I went straight out and bought a Seat Leon TDI. After 5 years I was itching to get back behind the wheel of an Alfa, so I bought the GT 2.0JTS Cloverleaf that I am driving now. I have to say it's good to get back to a petrol engine, even if we do have to pay extortionate prices for the privilege. Being back in the fold and having looked up advice on various bits and pieces here at various times I thought it would be nice to make myself known. So there we are, hello all and I look forward to getting some of my waves returned if I see any of you.
