1st of all hello everyone, secondly got a rev problem..

once upon a time,

over a month a go i got the red injector light come on above the revs, worried me a bit but never saw it again but then my car seemed to lack power and really judder (not handy when you are in the fast lane and the granny in her fiat 126 pulling a caravan is undertaking me..

took to alfa, run a diagnostic check and said it was the air flow sensor(maf) they could do for 231 squid fitted!!!i politly said get screwed.

got one on ebay for 40 quid, fitted myself, started engine after fitting, revs seemed a bit high but as you touched the accelerator the car just stalled, took it for a drive kept stalling and losing revs(not that simple as the cars a selespeed and im going down a hill wiv no power steering.
finally i cleaned the butterfly with carb cleaner and reset the ecu, still didnt like the new air sensor,
had to put the old one on the car, atleast i can get to halfords and back.
(before you ask it is the right maf for the car, same number but not bosch)
DO I HAVE TO FIDDLE WITH THE IDLE OR ADJUST ANYTHING!!!
it is possible the maf could be faulty, but i thought i would double check with you alfa wizkids 1st.

i look forward to your help please if you dont mind, thanks

the end.

You'd be best off with a genuine Bosch AFM,depending on model they can be had for £80-£160 ish from a decent specialist.

Sadly the "Too good to be true" copies on Ebay are just that, have a trawl through the tech sections on here and you'll find plenty of horror stories about these things...................

Re: 1st of all hello everyone, secondly got a rev problem..

Jamie Porter at the Alfa Workshop have a special offer of £100 incl. free fitting for MAFs on 145, 146, 156, 147, 166, GTV and Spider.

I know Norwich is not that close to Royston but they really know their stuff and I've used them and like some other AO members and would recommend them highly.

And welcome by the way to AO .

Re: 1st of all hello everyone, secondly got a rev problem..

i have tried alfa shop last year when my selespeed kept dropping out of gear and they looked at my car and said the acuator had gone we think??? over a grand fitted, but we cant get one for 1-3 months, pretty sure they said some woman had been waiting 3 months for one.
they also said the acuator pump would pack up aswell.

anyway shopped round for one and got a secondhand one for 300 quid(risky i know)
asked them to fit it and they refused saying they only fitted the parts they supplied,as they couldnt guarantee the acuator had gone.not very helpful at all and
the sales guy had one of those faces with a big cheesy smile, which i would happily have made bigger with my pen knife.
thats my 1st experiance of them and to be fair i would much rather get the gypseys down the road to service my car..
cheers mate
