Well Happy Newbie here

Hi everybody.

Just lookin for info at the moment.
I'm considering getting a 145 or 146 very soon.

Just thought it would be wise to find out from owners what to look for when buying

Cheers

Re: Newbie here

Hi Tanis and a big welcome to AO.

I had a 145 a few years back and had very few problems with it.

A point to watch, for a twin spark, would be if the cam-belt has been replaced - it really needs doing every 36,000 miles or three years - also suspension bushes can wear I think mine were quite bad before I sold it. I also had the water pump fail at about 30,000 miles it can be weak area I think. Other than that reliable and fun to drive. Look around the 145/146 part of the forum for more details.

Re: Newbie here

Hi Tanis, welcome to the site from a 145 owner

The 145 is a great car and as Sunbar has already said look for evidence that the cam belt has been replaced at 36 000 miles intervals. As always, a good service history is great to have.

A big problem I've had is having to replace wheel bearings, other than than I am pretty picky about making sure my car is well serviced so its been pretty good

Have a look at the 145 section of the site and it will help you no end
