Back in an Alfa :)

Hi guys,

I haven't posted here since about February when I sold my last Alfa. I bought myself a 1996 145 1.6 Boxer on Christmas Eve and I'm loving it.

It was bought from a fellow enthusiast and is pretty good, but there are a couple of small issues such as the slow electric windows to be sorted.

Also, getting parts from my local motor factor is proving to be interesting. A 1 week wait for a water pump and belts!? It's a 1996 Alfa, not exactly exotic!

Anyway, I just wanted to reintroduce myself, I see some familiar faces here and lots of new ones as well. It's great to be back in an Alfa, especially a Boxer engined Alfa.

Re: Back in an Alfa :)

I've had two boxer engined Alfas before, a 1989 1.7 Sprint Cloverleaf and a 1995 145 1.6. The 145 was standard, the Sprint had twin K&N Filters in place of the original airbox. That's about as daring as I get when it comes to tuning.

What would you suggest? IMO Alfas are cosmetically perfect from the factory, but I might be open to some ideas as far as engine tuning goes.

Re: Back in an Alfa :)

Well i would start with getting rid of the airbox and putting a K&N cone filter on and put a cold air feed to and or over the filter if its big enuff.then bigger exhaust and chip it.you should be able to find a chip on ebay.got mine from germany for about 30-40. redlines about 7700 .if you've got the same airflow meter as mine, there is a little mod you can do on it.which will get you more power for nothing.
if you go on the net, type in a search airflow meter mod.it should show you how to do it.i will try and find it for you,as it does work trust me hope this helps abit.ive done all this to my 33 and more love it!!!
