Better late than...
Methinks I should have signed up a while ago.
My 90,000 mile 147 TD from new is 10 years old, suffering somewhat , one front grille missing, scratched/broken front and rear bumpers and big dent under one door.
Some kind soul fisted the roof when parked on the drive.
The lights to the ventilation controls have long since given up the ghost, the driver's seat sags,my mechanic cannot sort the gear selector, so it's a beggar to find any gear ... but I love it !
I did have one suspension collapse which a price from a dealer which would have written it off for me, but a local garage at a fraction of the cost, came to the rescue, more recently, drastic power loss and black smoke created fears of turbo collapse, but a hose fixed that.
i guess that I have had my £12,500 purchase price out of it .
Mind you, I felt the same of the previous 1st Generation Punto Sporting, but most of all of a 1979 Lancia Beta 1300 saloon in dreamy cream with cream velour interior...including headlining and door inserts.
At 67, I am contemplating my final car, sensibly, it should be a Fiat Panda which is affordable and oldie friendly.
I fancied a late used Chevrolet/Lancia Delta because they loose money immediately, but they killed off that idea as I have no idea about spares etc.
This leaves the Guillietta, which will cut drastically into meagre savings.
It's a touch sad that I seem to be forced into aquiring a low mileage Guillietta , but I guess I will get over it.
There is always the recently refurbished Citroen 2cv if i am unable to cope with such luxury.
