Got my first 'proper' Alfa...
Having owned a 147 1.6 since October and it being really quite reliable and fun (aside from going through a couple of engine pulleys, some rusty sills and liking oil), I decided I wanted a proper Alfa...i.e. a V6
So just bought one.
110k miles, dubious recent history so didn't know anything about cambelt etc. Won eBay auction @ £3.1k. Went along, picked it up, made it from Sheffield to Braintree without a hitch. All works etc. But thought I'd do the sensible thing and got it booked in at Avanti in Ipswich (highly recommended). £1600 later with complete cambelt kit all done, plus TRW upper and lower wishbones and service, 6 iridium spark plugs, ready for LPG conversion and she's driving lovely.
I do notice a slight whine though from the engine and Avanti did have it for a week...it's going back there in 2 weeks for underseal treatment and to sort out a missing blanking plug on a sill which is allowing water ingress.
Otherwise, she goes very nicely, sounds great (completely different to my MG KV6 ZT-T), a REAL head turner and actually really quite practical. Downsides....26mpg and not the quietest cruiser in the world- lots of road noise.
