166 Owner checking-in

Hi there,

I've finally got round to signing in here, which I've been meaning to do for a while. I've found it a very useful forum so far and I am hoping to benefit from your expertise further as I get to know you.

I have loved cars (mostly older ones) for as long as I can remember but I blame my old man for my love of Italian cars in particular as he has owned a Maserati Merak SS and more recently a 3200GT, amongst several others. Not Alfas I know, but hey, we're all family right? Anyway, just over a year ago I found myself sat in my reliable but boring Peugeot 406 and I was parked next to a stunning, large Alfa saloon which I would discover later that evening, was a 166 3.0 V6 Super. So I stayed up late, did some research and the next day took a trip to my local Alfa dealer to see what they had in. No 166's but they sourced me a stunning 2.0 Lusso with barely 30,000m covered in 5 years. I did not take long to convince myself to part with my money and over a year on I am pleased as punch and contemplating the step-up to the 3.0 V6 or a later 3.2 model. Let's get Xmas out the way first though, eh!?

I would like to get hold of a Mark IV Quattroporte in the next few years (garage space and finances permitting) but for now I am quite content with my 166 and it's always nice when you a turn a head or receive a compliment.

Pleased to be here and I would be glad to hear from any other 2.0 166 owners wishing to compare notes, ask questions etc.

Cheers

Pat

I inadvertently met him years ago when I was much younger as one of his kids was at the same school as my younger brother. So I was there at the school sports day thinking 'Who the hell is that? He looks damned familiar' guessing he was some sort of rock star and it only struck me a few days afterwards that it was him, but he had been out of the band for a few years by then so I can just about forgive myself for missing an opportunity to speak to a legend. I did manage to get a signed 'Maiden B&W photo from him via my sibling a couple of years ago though
