heh, i've been looking at rex' myself, but 18mpg sounds a bit scary!!!
welcome to the madhouse...
Ill be upfront and honest with you; beautiful car, love my heated seats, driving position and 6 speed gearbox is awesome. I love the long rev range, changing gear at 9250rpm is an utter thrill. Oil consumption isnt anywhere near as bad as people make out; 700ml per 1000 miles. £20 gets me 4 litre of Castrol 10w 40 which equates to a good 5500 miles for £20.
Down side is just the fuel consumption. On the motorway I got 145 miles for half a tank at 80mph which I was happy with. Around town expect 30 miles per quarter of a tank.
I drove an RX and found the revs and lack of torque infuriating ; you'll find the Giulietta much more pleasant to drive !
Below 5k its not got much guts, but that worked for me around town and in the snow. Especially with semi-slick tyres on lol! Staying above 5000rpm upto 9250rpm its great, really solid torque curve and power is immediate in that rev range.
I always say that the RX8 is comparable to its hot hatches at its time. Its a Civic Type R beater and can beat a 350z if power isn't a dominating factor. Best thing is the fact it comes fully loadedd with xenons, heated seats, 9 speaker bose system with 6cd multichanger as standard.
Its just the horrific MPG thats bothering me now. Time to settle down, get a nippy and stylish family car which makes me turn my head when Im walking away from it for that last glance. RX8 gives me that, and theres only the Megane 250/265, MiTo, Guilietta and Jaguar XF which makes me do that.
Ive looked at a Focus; dull as door nails, a non renaultsport Megane; terrible interior, BMW 5 series; dull interior and often driven by ********s, Volkswagen Golfs, Passats. None of them are interesting, unique, stylish, a nice interior.
I like the idea of the Guilietta, I like the styling, I like the fact that, now I've dabbled with modifying my first car I want to give the Guiletta some tasteful OEM style modifications like that Novitec Guilietta (minus the wheels). Tastefully modified Alfa's are few and far between.
My friend who also owns an RX8 owns an Alfa MiTo and he has given it some tasteful modifications like the chrome delete and some alloy wheels. Looks gorgeous. You notice its slightly different but it doesn't detract from the car;
