which cars do you drive and why?
Currently have Megane 225 Trophy, but P/X'ing that for an Alfa 156 GTA.
Prior to that had a track prepped MK2 RS2000 - twin carbs, turbo - 230bhp. Car was fully stripped out and caged with custom dash, FIA bucket seats, harnesses etc etc - All the work (bar some welding done by myself). It was a complete ground up rebuilt.
Have had various company cars - Rover 200 vi, Rover 216 Coupe, Escort Estate, Citroen AX GT, Peugeot 309GTi - it's a long list!!!
Are you a real passionate for Alfa Romeo?
Bought the Megane in April this year, having sold my pride and joy, the RS2000 (had owned it for nearly 11 years!), but with 2 boys, the Megane, being 3 doors, is a little impractical. Looked at a Golf R32 (mk4) but too expensive and no bigger than the Megane, Looked at a 3.0 V6 Jag X-Type -boring, looked at a Mondeo ST220 3.0V6, didn't light my fire, then stumbled on the 156 GTA - boy do I wish I had looked for one back in April !!!!!
What or how started your passion for Alfa Romeo
Just starting out on this really - always been a pertol head, but wanted to find something with soul, character and a glorious V6 engine.
Would you ever consider joining an Alfa Club or are you already a member of one?
Yes, as soon as I have my 156 GTA
what do you like most about alfa's?
Style, different - don't see many 156 GTA's (don't see many Megane 225 Trophy's either, so I like be be a littel bit less than conventional!!)
What do you like least about Alfas?
Haven't owned one yet to comment on.
What would be your dream cars?
Ford GT, Pagani Zonda, Lambo Gallardo, Ferrari Modena 360 - the list could be endless. There are some 1970's American Muscle Cars as well that would be nice. Maybe a tricked out customised 1932 Model B Ford.
What car would you least like to drive?
Any Lada!!!
What would be your ideal drive in an Alfa (destination, passenger, driving music, etc)?
Not really though about that one - in the 156 GTA the engine note is too good for serious music, but I do like my music, so some classic AC/DC (pre 1980) woudl be excellent driving rock'n'roll. Destination - somewhere in Italy, driving through France, maybe the home of the Alfa!!
What interests do you have outside of Alfas?
Just started playing Golf (left it a bit late starting at 42!!, but in my office of 32 people, about 18 of the lads play it, so why miss out), I like my music, I do quite a bit of DIY - having built a house a few years ago, and having spent the last summer relandscapig my garden.
Tell us something nobody knows about you. (E.g. special skill, ever been on TV, etc)
Used to be very competent on the piano, but haven't palyed for about 25 years.
Do you have a party trick? If so what is it?
No, no party tricks up my sleeves.
What do you like most about the Alfaowner forum? Any favourite threads, episodes or people?
i like the layout and the way its different from other forums also the quality of most members and the amount of help you can get if you need it!
If you had £50,000 you had to spend in 72 hours, how would you choose to spend it?
1. Clear all debts
2. Pay a chunk off on the mortgage
3. Go to Russia and get a £20k flight in one of their Mig whatevers - they go right to the edge of space and apparently the ride leaves you lost for words.
