Hello from Tunisia (and my new 159)
Hi I joined the forum a while back when I was thinking of buying the car I have recently bought. I wanted some advice, but it ended up that due to a bug with the system I couldn't confirm I was human so couldn't post in the forum. Anyway, now I have bought the car but I thought I would stop lurking and say hello nonetheless - since I now have two Alfas I am bound to need to get some tech advice at some point!
My name is Pirran, I am an environmental scientist of sorts, and in the UK I have a 156 2L T spark, a Lotus Elise sport 160, and a KTM sx125, and have just bought a new, old stock 159 3.2 v6 ti left hooker which I have exported to Tunisia (where my wife is from).
I was a little unsure if I had made the right choice with the 159, but, a few weeks into ownership, and I am very pleased with it indeed. I was expecting it to be a mild improvement on the 156, but it is in fact a massive step up from the 156 across the board; hugely better chassis/suspension, lovely engine, and an extremely comfortable place to be too. The car looks fairly mean in nero with black rims. I love black cars but usually I dislike black rims on any colour car, but I think they actually look pretty good in this case. I had not imagined the amount of attention we would get over here in Tunisia in this car - I even thought beforehand that, without a v6 badge on the back, it was fairly "Q", but I was clearly wrong. My only gripe so far is predictable - I am not mad on the Qtronic auto/semiauto box. My wife wanted an auto and I settled on this as a compromise, but it is very much an auto box, even when in "manual mode". To be honest I would miss manual much more if I were driving on UK roads…...but I’d still much prefer a manual.
As mentioned, the car is new (well, newish - it sat on a forecourt in Mexico for a couple of years) so I'd be pleased to hear from other 3.2 owners if they have any ownership or maintenance tips or advice for me to watch out for as my car ages.
Thanks in advance for any advice and I'll attach a few photos if I can work out how to do it. I am afraid the only snaps I have of the 159 aren't great but that’s all I have for now.
