Alfa 156 T-Spark

Hello Alfa Drivers

Hi All

I was recommended this site from another forum.

The reason was due to the fact my engine blew on the motorway on Saturday. I drive a 156 T-Spark with 48,000 on the clock. The annoying thing for me is that I had a full service three days before, at a local garage. Naturally they are refusing to admit any responsibility.

Hopefully I will find some similar situations on the forums.

All the best

Re: Hello Alfa Drivers

Hello and welcome

What sort of work did the garage do to your car...did they just do an oil and filter change service or did they do other work too......had the timing belt and tensioners been changed at 36000 miles...

Re: Hello Alfa Drivers

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

The garage did a full service, along with changing the spark plugs and fixing new brake pads.

I bought the car last year, so not sure about the 36,000 mile service but will check the log book. I have found a history report from Car Giant, where the car was purchased. At 36,000 it says it received :

Mangoletsi For Alfa
Service Lubrication/C Service
Was Wipe System
Exhaust Mountings
Heat Exchange Seal

I must admit I am not that knowledgeable regarding cars so please ignore any ignorance!

All the best

Re: Hello Alfa Drivers

Welcome to AO. I think you may have just learnt the hard way about the need for modern Alfa cambelt changes at relatively low mileages. I hope it isn't too expensive to fix.
