Hello Alfa People

I'm Larry, from Mansfield, OH (USA). I purchased my first Alfa Roameo Spider (Graduate) about 2 years ago. It is red, with black interior, and looks exceptional.

It has 60,000 miles on it, and yes, the odometer works properly, and the miles are accurate. I love driving it, and plan to keep it for a long time.

I would like to address a couple of issues with the group, and would love to hear some feedback.

1. When I put the top up on a cold morning, the rear window split clean in two :-( The top is in poor shape, so I needed to replace it anyway. I have never replaced a convertible top, so I think I would prefer to have it done professionally. Does anyone have any advice for me? Who will do it, how much should I pay, etc.

2. The chrome rings around my headlights are pitting. I would like a new pair. Does anyone know where I can get them? Price?

3. When I accelerate hard, I feel some grinding in the seat. It almost feels like the tire is rubbing the wheel well, but I don't think that's the case. It could be the rear universal joint is going out. Is this a common problem for Alfas? Fix?

4. I want another one for a daily driver, while I continue to improve and restore the one I have. Does anyone have one for sale in my area?

Thanks in advance for any input and help you can offer. Feel free to e-mail me at hiloclassic@aol.com

This may be of help to you :-

And at the risk of being branded an "AO traitor"....... this is a good resource for Spider owners in the USA.... and in the UK

Try the Classic Car lounge here on AO for your specific issues

and yes...... Universal joints on these cars are known to fail and cause vibration

Re: Hello Alfa People

Hi and welcome to the site. nice looking car. I replaced the top on my 77 spider, got the good one-canvas, better window it cost me $1000.cd but in the states they are cheaper.

Alfa BB is a great site for info on the older spiders, sorry AO.
