So it finally happens...An introduction on an alfa forum. I already opened a topic regarding some technical issues, but a story without a car ain't a story

The name is Bart and last week i bought myself a 166. Some small problems but it will do just fine when i'm finished with it.

And one of the other toys:
Wich currently is on a dieet to loose some tupperware...going back to oem:

Let's merge the 2 topics together...
Bought the 166 cheap as hell,so obviously i have to get my hands dirty.
Problems in an nutshell:
-The car didn't run that nice, changed te Air flow meter and got that problem solved.
-Got another engine code for the 02 sensor,so there's a new one on the way.
-seat heater driver side doesn't work. My guess...change the switch
-electric window passenger side only works with the switch driver side...change switch passenger side
-electric window rear passenger side doesn't work at all. Open up the door and look for cluess
-central locking rear driver side doesn't work...same solution as above.

Biggest problem..."momentary connection to air conditioning fault" I've tried looking for answers on this forum, and 2 dutch alfa forums and tried every option suggested.
-checked all the fuses
-checked and swapped all the relais
-fuse for heater motor was slightly melted, changed that for a new one.
-used contact spray on every wire and connector
-checked wires to heater motor for voltage (big red 12v and the 3 smaller ones around 7.94v)
-when the key is turned i'll have to wait for 10 to 15 seconds for the message on the ics, when i wait another 10 to 15 seconds the heater motor starts turning really soft. But can't change the speed or temperature

Another thing done...went to the garage last saturday and the owner tried to connect with his computer. Engine codes showed up nicely, same as an airbag code. But when he tried to look for the airco problems his computer said that he couldn't make a connection.

And i forgot some extra important info...When i bought the car it worked perfect (fan speed an temperature control buttons below the ics),except the previous owner disconnected the four plugs on the rear of the ics because it drained the battery (what's he said)

I removed the ics, plugged everything in and got the "momentary" message on the screen. That's when the buttons for fan speed and temperature stopped working...And if i disconnect the ics those 2 won't work again...

That's all i've got...everyone else with this problem ends up with a broken heater motor but i can hear mine making noise. And my guess is that the heater motor works,or it doesn't...

Hope someone can help me out with this problem!!!

So today i had some time to look at the seat heater, and guess what...swapping the left and right switch won't make a difference. Offcourse even this has to be solved the hard way...I really starting to dislike italians...
