Hi everybody, hows it going?
For me, not too bad - I just bought a used Alfa.
156 2.0 TS Selespeed, ("X" 2000) Sportwagon with all the trimmings. I drove home from Liverpool yesterday and oh my, why on earth didn't I get me one of these before?
It's not quite accurate to say it drove well. It just drove.
Anyway, enough of the poetry.
I covered 200+ miles yesterday and I wasn't hangin around if you know what I mean, if you saw a metallic grey blur on the M6, M1 yesterday, I'm really sorry - it wasn't me it was the car
This mission for today?
Polish, clean and generally give the car some much needed TLC.
I am a newbie so please be kind, I haven't even looked at the manual yet, but could someone please reply with what oil I should buy and also water levels etc? It was a bit hot by the time I arrived home last night... I need to check it today.
It seems quite sound. I have one blown light on the right hand LCD display (the gear one) which is annoying, and I bet its a fun job changing it... Also, there is a plastic boot trim (the lip) which is damaged, does anybody know a good place to get a new one?
Also, the front heating vents don't seem to do much, even on full blast. The air is fine when directed at your feet or the windscreen, what am I doing wrong?
The car has done 57,000 miles, and I've read that changing the cam belt would be a sound plan at 60,000. It does sound like a diesel on startup, apparently that is a worn variator?
Anyway, I'm looking forward to a great relationship with my car lol, my missus thinks I'm a bit sad, but she loves the looks of course!
Please post back and thanks in advance for all your techie help!
