I've just bought an Alfa

Hi I have just bought my first Alfa, a 2001 156 sportwagon 2.0,despite lots of warnings of unreliability. But shouldn't everyone own an Alfa at least once in their life. Would appreciate any advice as to what to look out for.

Aye every 3 years or 36000 miles - get them belts and tensioners changed, prices from an independant should be under 350/400 compared to the costs if things go wrong - it's well worth doing... The variator will probably want doing every other change, but it will indicate it needs looking at by an orrible tractor like noise that continues after startup....

Oh and check the oil regularly and keep her topped up- it don't do her no good to run low on oil...
