Newbie with new car- and a problem.....

Hello, Just got a 156 JTD yesterday, and it's great. One thing though, one of the keys doesn't work. Replaced the battery, the little LED flashes but doesn't unlock the car. Any ideas anyone?

Hi and welcome...

The key sounds like it is not coded to the car...

The key part will work in the lock, but you will not be able to defeat the immobiliser.

unlock your car with good key, and then put problem key in the ignition and turn the key, you will probably find the code key light come on in the display panel. If it does it needs to be coded up by the dealer.

I agree with Chris,

I had the same problem with the 2nd set of my 147 keys. I took the key to the dealer and they did something with it (some kind of key code re-programming).

But it could be also that your 156 key is defective (radio emission out of order).

The best way to know if it is a defective key or a problem of key code programming is to try to start the car with the key:

If the car starts: Bad news it is not a problem of programming (otherwise the immobiliser would not recognize the key electronically).

In any case, I hope you will manage to sort this out quickly!

All the Best
