Bonnet Release

Hi

I have recently bought a 156 2.0L TS and want to change the cambelt. However, the bonnet release mechanism is not working and I cannot get under the bonnet.

Is there any other way that i can open it myself or do i need to take it to an alfa garage?

Help me?!

Re: Bonnet Release

Hi, welcome to AO. Try pressing down on the bonnet (bounce it up and down a few times) and see if that releases it. Good luck.

Re: Bonnet Release

Had the cable come off in the cabin? I've read of this happening once...

Otherwise, get someone to press gently on the bonnet front edge, as you operate the lever. About 300mm each side of centre.

Re: Bonnet Release

Have a mate tug on the release as you bounce and pull on the bonnet

Re: Bonnet Release

Cheers everyone. i have tried to bounce on the bonnet but it did not work. That being said i was assisted by my missus who was pulling the release lever (no jokes please). I will try again with someone more equipped to do it.

I have a friend who works at an alfa garage and they say they'll have to take the bumper and bonnet off to fix it!!
