hello soon to be a fellow GTV driver

Hello all !!!

I thought i would introduce myself to the lot of you, so here it is, get ready for it !!!! HELLO !!!!

I am not yet a GTV driver much to my dismay

Anyway the reason for my getting onto the site now is that i am thinking about getting a GTV but i am a little worried about the reputation that these cars have unreliable etc.

It is not my first car and at the i drive a mondeo which is really getting to me at the moment because it is really costing me alot of money and want something a little more reliable and really love the look of these cars is there any tips on what to look for when buying one, and are they really that unreliable??????

thanx in advance for your help????

cheers
Bowa

Re: hello soon to be a fellow GTV driver

welcome to AO dude...

a full service history from a main dealer or reputable indie is a must

cambelt and tensioners changed every 36k or 3 years, whichever is sooner is imperative

make sure you have all the keys, they are costly to get cut

get the above right you should have yourself a well looked after and sorted GTV which will give you lots and lots of fun, as well as a big grin

happy hunting

Re: hello soon to be a fellow GTV driver

Very much re-iterate what Mikebrown said....

These are wonderful cars that are slightly more sensitive to proper servicing than others - hey it's a sportscar... Find a good specialist independant to look after your chosen steed and don't stint on the servicing, and things will be fine.

Alfa has a reputation, but in 4 cars and 145,000 miles I've never been left stranded by one. The ony two cars that I have been left at the roadside with were a volkswagen and a BMW (twice)...

If you think about it Alfa's use components from many of the same manufacturers that supply Audi,BMW,Mercedes,Porsche etc it's the state of the car industry today...

Go into ownership with open eyes you won't be dissapointed.....

Oh and welcome and good luck with your hunt...

Simon.

Welcome to AO dude

I'm on me second follow all the above tips and you can't go wrong

The extra attention you have to give the GTV will be paid back in spades especially on twistie roads in summer time
