Hello Alfa Owners

Nice to know there are so many of us out there. Just got my first Alfa, a 3 year old 2litre 147 Lusso. So much fun to drive and a very distinctive looking car. I live in South Essex and the 36000 mile service is about due. Been reading the main dealer service horror stories so I checked out my local place (Toomeys) at the top of my road and was quoted 370. The Alfa Workshop (Independent Specialist) does the same service for 185 so I have booked it in there but would like to know if anyone knows of anywhere more local to me that they could recomend.

Re: Hello Alfa Owners

cambelt and tensioners at 36K? Everyone I have talked to so far say that 48k is the best time to do this and the Alfa Handbook suggests 72k.

Re: Hello Alfa Owners

have a good look the search option above...36k or 3 years, whichever is sooner, is recommended by all and a hell of a lot cheaper then a new engine....dont take the risk

Re: Hello Alfa Owners

Got another question. The SBS and VDC light has started appearing every now and again on the dashboard and the computer tells me there is a problem. Is this a major issue? I have the car booked in for a service in 4 weeks. Can this wait till then or am i in danger of a major incident.

Hi Reggie,

It could involved the safety of your car so potentially Yes, it is serious.

One adive iff your car is still under Warranty: call Alfacare and they should organise something quick.

But bear in mind that they only provide you a hired car for 48h free of charge and then it is your liability to organise your own transport, as long as the car is in the garage.

If you are lucky, the garage, where you car has been towed by Alfacare, could provide you a courtesy car in replacement, otherwise, you will have to stop travelling or paid a replacement car (hired or others) with your own pocket.

I unfortunately know it from experience:
Foor more retails, I invite you to check the 8th message in this thread:
http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/intro...a-forever.html (Alfa forever...)
It is a long description of one of my bitter experience with Alfacare and an Afla Franchised Garage.

All in all I wish these technical issues will be fixed quickly on your car and with no hassle.

Keep me informed!

Cheers

Fabrice
