hi.......advice needed

Hello there....I've just joined the forum because I thought it would be great to exchange views with............oh heck..........it is that, but at the moment it's because I have a problem with my 156 and wanted to sound a few other people out.

Just had a big-ish service (new plugs) and the cars done about 63k. Went to Devon last month, not a hitch there, back or while on holidays. The car failed to start day before yesterday - turned over beautifully, failed to fire up though. Battery is strong, starter seems to be spinning fine, just not kicking off. After 5-6 attempts it went ok. Took the chance and went to the seaside - no problems later in the day.

Yesterday much worse. Started eventually (same symptoms) and I risked it again but this time I had problems away from home....

Eventually it started and we got home. Last night it repeatedly failed and I left it outside for the first time in it's 2 yrs with me.....sniff

Any ideas on what might be the problem - I opened the bonnet, looked in, closed the bonnet.......

Sorry, I haven't a clue what the problem would be, although I'm sure someone on here will know. I hope you get it fixed soon though

Thanks Orange, I'm in Darlo and I know Jus - he's serviced, swapped belts for me. He's a genuinely good bloke, and knows his stuff.

As an aside, I just pratted about with the fuses (nothing as drastic as swapping them etc. - just prodded them a bit)....guess what....just started six times out of six on the spin.

On the drive, that is. Sod's law will dictate another failure when I'm out and about (-;

Dunno why (possibly drunken retrospection, and, hey, what harm did that do anyone) - I thought I'd dig up my first post.

Nice

Plenty of support, welcomes and O came straight in with advice

Re: hi.......advice needed

of course the intermittent starting problem inexplicably sorted itself

and I ditched the thing as soon as I could

and bought another 156
