Wave Great to be Part of the Alfa family

This is the first Alfa that I've purchased (GT JTDM), and I'm having a brilliant time in it . It's great to be part of the Alfa family. This is my first question of many no doubt (sounds stupid):

What the hell is supposed to be in the boot under the carpet? I've found some kind of puncture kit, but there are about four more gaps for things that I'm not sure what's supposed to be in them. Thanks.

Re: Great to be Part of the Alfa family

Depends on the wheels fitted, but a space saver size spare, jack kit & stuff can reside in there also - i think

Welcome to the site mate, it's contagious

Depends on the market the GT is sold into...some get a space saver...some get no tyre at all and some gunk to supposedly reapir a pucture for example. Sounds like you just got the gunk!

Re: Great to be Part of the Alfa family

Thanks for the warm welcome. I must admit I am quite worried. Over the last few days I've been reading about all of the extensive problems you've had with your Alfa's (leaking seals, bad paintwork, waterlogged carpets etc) and I can't help wondering whether I have bought a very expensive dog. I'll be going over my car with a fine tooth combe this weekend to check for any of the proplems encountered in the forum. I would be greatful for any other advice from you senior members out there..

Re: Great to be Part of the Alfa family

IMO, the problem is that people encounter problems with their cars then search the 'net looking for solutions. It's very rare that people join AO just to tell us what a fantastic, problem free car they own.

Re: Great to be Part of the Alfa family

That's right, if you visit any forum dedicated to a particular marque you'll find discussions about the problems and niggles.....the fact is that appart from the rare occurences of dodgy paint, Alfas are as well built and reliable as any other equivalent European car.....now dealers are another matter all together, but then what's new there...

As everyone has said, you'll always find plenty of problems if you go looking on a specialist forum. But I think you'll find this forum is a bit unique in that you'll find almost as many, if not more, owners singing the praises of their Alfas. And I think you'll find the majority of GT owners on AO completely love their cars

I for one wouldn't swap mine for anything, despite the few early niggles

Re: Great to be Part of the Alfa family

Thanks for the calming info. I see the South West gang are represented well. Have any of you had dealings with the Alfa garage at Exeter? I went there for a look around and they seemed pretty clueless at most of my questions.

Re: Great to be Part of the Alfa family

welcome from another newbie. I was also worried about all the problems but soon came to the conclusion that it's not as bad as it seems, it's just that everyone tells each other what to look out for. I had the same experience when buells for came to the uk, and I had no trouble with mine.
