New member & new owner

I've recently bought my first's not new; on a 55 plate and it's nothing flash 1.6 T-Spark (not even sure if it's 120bhp version yet). I bought it on looks more than anything and the price was very reasonable! It's got a partial service history, has just had a cambelt change at 93,000. Mileage is now 101,000. I'm slowly starting to trust that it might be a good car and I'm trying hard not to start relaxing and enjoy it until I know it's all sound. My cousin is part owner of a garage in Harrogate and is going to give it a full check over next week. It's solid black, 3 doors, has 17" wire wheels and is fitted with a subtle stainless exhaust system. The cloth interior, carpets and dash are spotless really, on the outside some very minor details need sorting. So far the only thing I can find fault with is the boot gas dampers don't lift the door when the release button is pressed (just a case of new gas dampers?). I'm a bit of an Italophile and have a few scooters (a couple of us even visited the Lambretta factory building in Lambrate Milan and managed to go walk about inside the derelict building...sadly we found nothing but some old door keys scattered on the floor, but did retrieve some fine marble chunks that used to be fixed in to a course of the exterior wall) and I even buy/collect various Italian label clothing haha, so thought I should be on the look out for an Italian (Milanese) car too! I hope it serves me well for a while until I can afford to upgrade to something newer in the Alfa range...I like the idea of being brand loyal! Looking forward to learning as I go on here.

I already have one question and that is: will 5 door red leather seats and door cards fit the 3 door? I have been offered an unmarked set for £70.00

Many thanks - Stu

hello welcome

Your probably best asking here Alfa 147, 156 & GT - Alfa Romeo Forum

I would have said unlikely as the doors on 3 and 5 door models are differant sizes - well on most cars ive seen? not sure about a 147?

Welcome to AO

If you fit 5Dr seats into a 3Dr you won't be able to get into the back seats as the fronts won't fold forward

Thanks for the welcome messages and advice on the seats not it is my passenger seat doesn't fold down now (found out today while getting ready for a tip trip). The lever has a screw fixing on it to remove it from the seat. As these seats are airbag seats can the lever be replaced easily enough and is that what should be done? It just doesn't have any movement when you pull the the lever.

^^ Sorry just seen the note about nothing technical in here. Will repost this in the right place
Thanks again.
