Hello, thinking about buying my first Alfa!

Hi all, I am thinking about buying my first Alfa, I've just bought my own house and my girlfriend is at university 90 miles away so I need a car that is sensible, cheaper to run and more comfortable than my Honda Civic Jordan, which I absolutely love but it's time for it to go to a new home

So I decided I should get a diesel and after looking at the obvious choices, VWs, Audis, BMWs etc.. They all bore me to death and are all over priced in my opinion. So I think I want either a 147 or gt coupe. My budget is 4,000, is this enough for get a decent Alfa?

Any advice on buying is much appreciated, as I have never known anyone to have one!

I would go for the Gt, as it's almost as practical as the 147, even with 2 doors, and much sexier to look at.

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone!

I would rather a GT if I'm honest, but if the right 147 comes along I will get that

Is 4,000 a reasonable budget?

Welcome to AO, Im sure 4k should be enough to buy a reasonable example, more likely a 147 than a GT at the price but then im sure there will be GT's around.
