Having recently collected my new Mito Sportiva (TA105) thought I would pop in to say hi.
Finding that my daily drive/commute now comprises a 3mile ea way journey to the train station, when it came to changing car I decided that sticking with a large capacity (>2L) diesel was not sensible given the potential for DPF problems etc. Was looking for a small capacity, (relatively cheap), runaround had almost resigned myself to a boring bland euro box such as a Seat Ibiza or VV Polo, but then saw a Mito in Sportiva spec and thought ..... That looks nice
I chose the Twinair 875 105bhp vs the 1.4 135, because it has so much more character and although I will never get anywhere near the claimed 67mpg (Middle to high 30's more likely on my short runs). Driving back from Bauer Millet to Cambs, I came back via the Peak District and found the Twinair had enough real world ...''oompff" to make it an enjoyable drive*
*Once I had reset my driving style to the revy engine - nearly caught me out when overtaking a car on Snake Pass, dropped down a cog, foot down, pulled out....bam.... Hit rev limitter
Pulled back in behind car and reconsidered my strategy
. Next time stayed in 5th and the Mito had enough torque to pull out and accelerate in 5th!!!!).
It's almost like driving a small diesel.... Plenty of torque, .....but bugger all revs
Once back on the motorway, she was happy cruising at the speed of the surrounding traffic (which may .....or may not .....have been doing to legal limit
Overall avg for the journey was 43mpg, which considering a little spirited driving in the Peak District and high avg speeds on the M1 was not bad at all.
