147 Selespeed from Belgium sayin' hi!

So, I thought I'd introduce myself on this wonderfull forum!

My name is Matteo, and I live in Belgium. I study 'Autotechnologie' in Antwerp.
My car is a 147 2.0TS Selespeed Distinctive, which I simply adore to death! (despite some of it's faults...)

The car is from August 2002. We bought it second hand last jear, with around 56.000km on the clock. It's now at 67.500km.
I'll just sum up some of the options on the car:
- Color: Grigio Africa
- Red leather interior
- Selespeed
- Bose Soundsystem
- Automatic climate control
- Arm rest
- Glass sliding sunroof
- Multifunction steering wheel (don't know if it was standard on the Distinctive?)
- and it has the stock 16" wheels (too bad.... )

My average fuel consumption lays between 11 and 13.5 litres per 100kms (between 22 and 17mpg). Which probably tells something about my driving style...
It's kinda expensive... so I try to use my old mercedes 300TD as a daily driver as much as possible.... But it's so hard to resist the driving fun of the Alfa.

Right now I'm having something weird with the Selespeed transmission. The gearchange from 3th to 4th is just too fast (in comparison to all other gearchanges). That wouldn't be bad at all if the gears were nicely synchronized, but they arent. They just 'Crunch' into each other. It's not a nice sound to hear, and I try to avoid this as much as possible by changing from 3th to 5th whenever possible.
I think it's a software problem, but I fear that the syncromesh of the 4th gear is really suffering from this (and also the gearwheel itself ofcourse).
There are so little 'decent' Alfa specialists around here, that know something about these transmissions. The local Alfa dealers are real amatures imo.

Aside from that, I'm simply in love with the car! (I'm sure I'm not the only one... )

Re: 147 Selespeed from Belgium sayin' hi!

thanks Roswell!

Jeah, the color is ok, but does need some getting used to (I find), and I think it helps if the car has nice wheels and a bit lowered, which I now really need to get done... If I only had the money.

I especially love Nero Fuoco, that in combo with a 3door, lowered, red leather interior, and 17" Selespeed wheels would make the ultimate everyday 147 for me.

I'm actually looking for those 17" wheels, but they are pretty expensive.
Any of you guys have advice on lowering my baby?

greetings,

matteo

Welcome to AO Matteo.

You may want to post your specific Selespeed questions on the 147 part of the forum to get quicker answers, BTW.

Stick around.

@ Ant, yes, I'll surely post more of this problem there if I can't seem to find a solution.
