Ive done it!

Hi People,

Last week I decided to improve my life. After years of umming and aahing, listening to people warn me about reliability problems etc, I finally told em to stick it and got me my first Alfa - a 2L TS GTV Lusso.
Ive (unfortunately) not had much experience with Alfa's so it'll be good to talk to some of you guys.

Bye for now...

Re: Ive done it!

Cheers guys, no pics as yet but will endeavour to have some soon.

Question...All the stamps in the service book are up to date since new (Oct '00) but there doesnt seem to be any reference/receipts of any cam belts being changed. Bearing in mind its approaching 80k the first thing im gonna do is change the belts. Anyone know the best place to go for such a job? Im in W. Sussex...

Re: Ive done it!

i dont know any indies in w sussex...but you should have your belt/tensioners changed every 36k....have you tried contacting some of the garages on the service history to see what has been carried...i did this myself before i purchased my 156

good luck

Re: Ive done it!

I think the last belt change should've been carried out on the 72k service but the receipt had no sign of it. Cheers for the advice, ill get on to the garage in question.

Re: Ive done it!

Not the place that did the last service, no.
Phoned up my local AR dealer and they charge around 680 notes for the belt job.

okay..its just a few AR dealers would not give me information..using Data protection act as an excuse..i rang AR UK customer care who said this is not relevant as it is data regarding a car and not a human being....

680 is probably still a bit steep from an AR Dealer which should include the tensioners etc...i just paid 227 from my indie...AR are around the 85 pounds an hour ...my indie specialist is 30 ..quite a diff
total labour should be around the 3 hour mark
