Cambelt

Hi, My 156 2.0 Ts Has 42 K On Clock Is It Mad Not To Get Cambelt Changed And Tensioner After Reading A Few Horror Stories Or Is That Just A Few Cases That You Here About Cam Belt Breaking At A Early Stage

welcome to AO dude...the general concensus is that you change the belt and tensioners every 36k (alfa say 72k)..should cost no more than 300 pounds from an indie and around the 500 mark for a dealer

and yes there does seem to be lots of belts failing if not looked after properly

Welcome....yes it's mad to risk it! Get the belts and tensioners done soon.

I bought my 156 2.0 ts with 50k, and no evidence of having the belts done, I had them changed shortly after and got the parts back, the tensioner and idler bearings were showing signs of imminent bearing failure (noisy, play) so im really glad i got them done.

I've no doubt they can go on to the manufacturers rec, but since you've actually thought about it, I'd get it done now asap !
