Re: Overheating

Hi Rick is it a T Spark engine?
Does it over heat when just sitting on tick over?
Does the fan cut in ok?

Reason being my 2l T Spark overheats but only when doing about 4000 rpm or more. The problem is most likely the water pump. Apparently the impella (the bit that spins round in the engine to circulate the water) is plastic doesn't turn with the belt drive (hense the 400 rpm thing). Mines booked in for a new pump and cam belt next week

Welcome, most likely to be your fan (relay or fuse) or the radiator that's nakkered.

Well Happy Re: Overheating

I just had the oil changed in mine they put in racing Selenia and it has certainly made the engine run a lot hotter than it was. Mind you it also runs a lot more freely.

Re: Overheating

as long as it's within the operational limits ,don't think you have to worry too much about it.

welcome to AO.

Re: Overheating

Mine is 1.8 TS - I have flushed the Rad which is running clear, spoke to main dealers they reccomend a full check prior to any work being carried out because it could be as you all suggest serveral things, water pump, Rad, stat, cyl hd. Gasket.
