Wave obd/Airbag

Hi All - new to this game so bear with me if I get it wrong !

I have a 156 1.8TS Sportwagon Veloce 2001 - lovely except :

The driver airbag warning light is on, I have had 2 auto electricians plug into the OBD to read/rectify the faults but neither of them could get any power from the OBD socket - is this common and does anyone know the cause and solution - maybe a fuse ??

Also Air conditioning is pretty poor compared to our other cars Passat and Volvo S60 - is this normal ??

Hope you can help

Incidently we get the "lamp blown" light on and generally it is the rear number plate light, I think the contacts corrode and do not pass a full current - normally extinguishes after a mile or so (or after a kick to the number plate !!)
