145 Rear pads painless change required

Hi all,
i have had a 145 1.7 Boxer for a couple of years, no major problems Lambda Sensor, exhaust. Recent MOT showed low efficiency rear brakes so pad change necessary, any tips gratefully received!
Cheers

hi romeo, proably best to post this question in the 145 section atlthough if you do a site search you proably find something, its usaully fairly simple but you need a caliper wind back tool.

Re: 145 Rear pads painless change required

Welcome....two things, firstly you don't need a windback tool for the 145/6 or 155 type calipers, a G-clamp and pair of water pump pliers will do. Wind the piston clockwise.

Secondly, low performance from the rears is usually due to a seized or partially seized caliper, not the need for new pads.

Strip the caliper down and check it's working properly. Make sure you put it back together PROPERLY!

Search the forum for more info if you get stuck

While you've got it off and are reassembling, rub it all down with a wire brush to get rid of any crap and apply Coppaslip to any friction parts.

As Wrinx said, you don't NEED a wind back tool, but it really does help!

5mins with a windback tool, 2hrs and risk of damaging cylinder rubbers without, the choice is yours
