Oxfordshire 159 Newbie saying hello

Hi everyone,
Just starting a new thread to say hello despite being on here for a couple of months.
I am a new owner of my first alfa, a 159, and I am looking forward to driving it after purchasing it a month or so ago.
I purchased it knowing that the DMF was on its way out so I bought it cheap in order to fix up and hopefully save some money in the long run.

Anyhow here is how she looked

So I set about finding the elearn to read up on how to swap the gearbox out, 9-10 hours doesnt seem too bad.
Seems simple enough so I set about it with new found enthusiasm only to encounter that the car hasnt been greatly looked after.
I managed to sheer a steer arm,

I was unable to undo the passenger side lower ball joint, sheer numerous small rusted bolts - a couple on the subframe, a couple on the hub, but most of all one of the subframe bolts refused to come out breaking the weld on the 'horsehoe' retaining locator in the chassis.
in here:

I also noticed that the front bumper and wheel arch liners have a few fixings missing!!

Anyhow I finally got everything out and decided to give the subframe a good coat of hammerite as I have no intention of pulling it back out again!

However during painting I noticed that both lower bushes were split ....... so more problems.

However these were cured with the fitting of powerflex bushes

After all that and removing the gearbox I noticed the solid flywheel and clutch kit that I purchased didnt come with the clutch bearing, so I had to get one ordered separately. I know people will say that I shouldnt fit a SMF but I really dont want to fit a DMF only to be in the same position later down the line. I concede that it might effect the gearbox but hey, im going to 'risk' it.

The old clutch was on its last legs aswell

All in and ready to go, even if getting the pressure plate meant grinding the heads off the old torx bolts as whoever before felt the need to put half rounded bolts back in!

I also noticed that around the turbo intake pipe it was really dirty and this is to be the culprit:

A pinched turbo inlet pipe. When the previous owner/mechanic put it on, the jubilee clip went on at an angle pinching the pipe and exposing a slight section to the atmosphere letting all the oil/air escape down the front of the engine.

Anyone its all back together now with new bolts in a2 stainless where suitable, so nothing gets rusty, all i have to do is fill be gearbox with oil (Redline MT90 being my choice), knock the hub nuts to secure them, bleed the clutch system and put the wheels back on.

Hopefully tomorrow I will be driving her.
Then its off to autolusso for a 4 wheel alignment as no doubt its way out and then a conservative remap is on the cards (maybe).

Hopefully this will be the start of enjoyable driving.

Thanks for the welcome people. I drove it last night after finally getting the clutch bled and I'm pleased with her. I might start a build thread (if I can get the img links to display) and pop to a local meet once I clean the months of grime off her.
