Hello all alfa owners
Hi Im Dave. I have a keen interest in alfas and ive owned a few starting with a 1984 alfa 33. Since then ive fell in love with them and to be truthful i think you have to love them to own them. Not that ive had much trouble with them as Ive found them very reliable but the odd small thing that has gone wrong can be tricky e.g. changing the clutch master cylinder on a 164 or the clutch on a 33. (Although i did change the clutch on the 33 with the engine left in the car. i think I would have been quicker to take engine and gearbox out as one assembly and split it on the bench as recommended.
I now have a 96 alfa gtv 2.0 ts lusso and a 2000 alfa 166 2.5 v6. Ive done a bit of work on the gtv, nothing major just cv joints, shocks, that type of thing. I would strongly recommend one thing if working under a gtv. Use a four post car lift as they are very low to the ground. I am very lucky in that respect as a frien of mine has his own garage and lets me work on the car there if anything has to be done.
Havent done much work on the 166 yet as i only have it 3 months but if and when i do ill let you know how i get on.
