Thumbs Up hullo all

Hi - This is my first post, having owned my 2.0 147 for just over a year now - long enough for someone to dent the door (the price you pay for those 'clean lines' I suppose), get through over 2 litres of oil (which the dealer has advised is 'normal for TS engines') and have the hand brake ratchet replaced under warrenty. My only other issue is a rattle below the driver's seat - it sounds like a nut has falled off the seat, and it rolls around and clatters under enthusiastic cornering...

Overall, it's a fine machine - a massive difference from my previous twin carb 33 and 1.6 145 - certainly easier to live with, although I miss the noise of the 33!

Hi Paul and welcome to AO!

I also miss the sound of carb' induction systems (in my case it was twin Webers feeding Cosworth heads)

Re: hullo all

Hello and welcome to AO PaulF.......

Your oil consumption sounds quite normal. Just make sure you keep checking on the level and topped-up to the Max. level. Once you learn that the oil usage is to be expected make make sure you don't forget to check it regularly. It's a lot better than having to deal with some expensive engine repairs.

Have you had your dealer look at the seat rattle under warranty? I've been having a slight 'clonk' noise from the passenger (left) side under cornering. Unfortunately it only happens rarely and my dealer failed to either hear it or therefor fix it.

Enjoy your Alfa and you visits to AO.

Re: hullo all

Hi all and thanks for the advice. I've got into the habit of checking the oil regularly and topping up as required. Is there a reason for the high usage? It didn't seem to be an issue in the 1.6 TS fitted to my 145, so I wondered if it related to all the extra wizardry of the 2.0 TS unit?

The other machine in my household is a Yaris which seems to never ever use any oil. This has lead to my girlfriend making various comments about the 'quality' of my engine vs hers. It's not an argument that is worth entering into really!

I did ask the dealer to look into the seat rattle. They (Hylton in Worcs) didn't find anything, but did leave me a screwdriver in the foot well. I took to be carelessness on their part rather than some sort of a free gift to impress new owners, and gave it back to the chappie how took me to my car.
