New to alfa's but ooooohh they're good

Howdy ho y'all

I've just recently bought my alfa 147 and i think it's great. Love it!
It's a 1.6 ts lusso in gabbiano (did i spell that right?) blue. Haven't had it long but i've already put a strut brace on it and an induction kit. It really roars now!

This is my second Italian car having just moved up from a mark 1 punto. Before that it was a mark 3 golf and before that one was a peugeot 205 xs.
Really like the alfa brand so think i'll be buying more in the future. Need to start saving for the 147 gta!

Just one question - Can you fit 18" alloys on with a 40 mil profile straight on with no arch problems? And also has anyone done it and thinks it comprimises the ride too much and not to bother?Any responce is much appriciated.

Well that's about it.

Regards,

Gary.

Hi Gary, welcome to AO

Your question re 18" alloys may have been missed here. I'm sure if you try posting it again in the 147 section someone will be able to help you

Howdy.

About the 18"'s - smaller wheels actually have better acceleration
and the 18"'s probably won't do the 1.6 any favours.

They will also tramline a little more, and have a harsher ride.

Also Tyres for 18" are substantially more expensive than for 16".

They do give better traction, not a problem for a 1.6 anyway,
and slightly better grip.

They probably look quite good though

Cheers,
TB

I agree. Apart from the looks, they'll knacker your ride completely and make the car feel awful, unless you spend a fortune on suspension mods. I wouldn't bother, personally.
