156 JTDm 20V

Hi there,

I have been meaning to register with the forum for some time and the holiday has provided me the time to do it at last!

I am a recent Alfa buyer, but have enjoyed using many italian cars over the years. My first car was an ancient Fiat 127, which was great fun and quite nippy, although full of rust. In the last decade or so I have had a few Fiat cars such as:

Tipo 1.9TD
Bravo 1.6 16v
Multipla 1.9TD
Coupe 20v
Barchetta LE

These last two in particular were excellent cars and I still hanker after some of their attributes.

After a short period with an Audi A4, which was an excellent motorway car, I bought my first Alfa - a GT 1.9TD in October 2005. I was hoping that the GT would provide a cross between the Fait Coupe and the Audi A4 and to an extent it did just that. Unfortunately as much as I persevered I could not cope with the sports seats in this otherwise excellent car and was forced to trade it back at the dealer for my current 156.

The 156 is a JTDm 20V and I am very impressed with it. The combination of sportiness and comfort is superb and the engine is a revelation in performance and economy. It is a Lusso model with black leather and I bought it late Dec 2005 from Perry's portsmouth.

One disappointment was the gearbox, which became stiffer as I used the car and was eventually replaced in April. The new one is working fine.

I know that I could have waited for the 159 and it may be a better car, but the 156 was a good price for its spec and I enjoy it so much that I don't care anyway!

Anyway, that's me and my cars...
