gone mad

hi all.
After many many years of Audi ownership. I have just purchased without much fore thought, a 156 2.0 turismo very late 2002. 20K full history.
now feeling worried whether heart has over ruled head and I have gone mad!!!
Please convince me otherwise.
big smiles when I look at her, and great to drive tho.
Also I have a bloody big rear spoiler with purchase. Do I fit it or not???
OH, and I would love a leather interior and cd changer any ideas?

Re: gone mad

Can't help with the leather seats or CD changer and the spoiler really is a matter of whether you can live with it or not. There are plenty on here who will be able to help though.

No you haven't made a mistake - but I think you already know that deep down judging by the smile you get when you look at her

Welcome to the afliction that is Alfa ownership

Re: gone mad

Hi Halfmanhalfbisc(uit). Welcome to Alfa ownership and to the AO forum.

In my humble opinion you need at least a Sportpack/Veloce specification car, with lowered suspension and side skirts, to get away with fitting the big rear spoiler and even then it’s largely dependent on colour.

Leather interiors frequently come up for sale on eBay for around £2-300 depending on condition and colour.

You may be able to find a CD changer compatible with your existing head unit here

The cam belt, balance belt, auxiliary belt and their respective tensioners should be changed every 36,000 miles OR every 3 years, which ever comes first.

Expect to pay £3-400 at a good independent Alfa specialist.

Re: gone mad

Definitely not made a mistake. I converted to Alfas 5 years ago and have never regretted it.
In my opinion the smaller (lower) spoiler looks good on the 156. The bigger (very high one) doesn't. Matter of personal opinion though isn't it.

The Half Man Half Biscuit thing a bit spooky. Not heard a reference to them for years. Yesterday saw a guy in a 'Dukla Prague Away Shirt' and now you appear on this board. Time to dust off the old records I think.

Re: gone mad

thanks for the great welcome.
think I agree on the spoiler looking a bit OTT for the rest of the car, it being very standard.
I have since looked on E-Bay, and lo there are leather interiors to be had!
Half man still going and getting better, dont dust off the old vynil, go out and buy the new stuff. its even better!!!!!
I feel part of community already.
