Hi Newbie Here

Hey guys, newbie here. Been reading your forum after my brother (Joski) bought himself a lovely Alfa 156 2.4 JTD. Must say this forum is very interesting and you've a large well of knowledge between you all.

I own a 2001 Fiat Bravo 1.9 JTD HLX which is currently remap'd at 154-156BHP at current and want to eventually move onto a Alfa JTD, either a 156 or GT. However one of my biggest questions is, how do you know which version is the lower spec and which is the higher spec? I.e Lusso, Turismo, Veloce etc on the 156 range.

I have always been a fan of italian cars, styling and engines, BUT Alfa must have the best styling ever, in and out.

Joske

Welcome Joske to AO,

Turismo - base Model
Lusso - Luxury Model (Leather interior etc)
Velocé - Sports Model (Stiffer suspension, bigger alloys etc)

Then you get the daddy's!!! GTA (goes like stink)

Re: Hi Newbie Here

Hi Joske... welcome to AO.

Sorry, I can't answer your question because my only Alfa experience is with the 147GTA.

Many years ago I bought a new Fiat Bravo 1.8 GT. It was a good car but the power and handling were a bit slack. For the chassis all I had to do was fit a Novitec lowering spring kit (-35mm front / -30mm rear) plus Momo 16" alloys with 205/45x16 Falkens, which transformed it into a really sharp but stable machine at all speeds

For the engine I had bespoke Piper cams installed plus free-flow intake & exhaust mods (again from Novitec) which collectively gave around 165 bhp.

It was great fun and my everyday drive until eventually after several engine cooling system failures it finally had a massive melt-down

Re: Hi Newbie Here

Korky gets it right again. just translate the word from italian,

Turismo = touring
Lusso = Luxurious
Veloce = Speed

GTA = Gran Turismo Allegarita (not 100% on spelling) = Grand Touring Lightened.

Welcome anyroad mate
