My Alfa 147 2.0 - MODIFIED 170bhp so far........
thought I come and share my 147 with the fans of a car maker I never before owned, yet now kick my self asking "why didn't you get one before!"
my car is the alfa romeo 147, 2.0, twin spark, selespeed (sequential gearbox with flappy paddles)
full leather heated seats, cruise control, aircon, built in lcd screen with mobile phone / sat nav / trip computer and radio.
Every thing works which is great.
the list of mods is good, no cheap stuff, and its a continuing process until I acheive the goal of 200bhp with greater torque.
I know how to achive it, and have the great benefit of having a top remapper, the guy I got the car off, who is a car nut with a great collection of motors and feel honoured to have prised this car away from him!!
The mod list is ;
Full coil over adjustable suspension
Cross Drilled vented discs all round
EBC Green stuff pads all round (fitting next week)
Tyres - after wanting Goodyear Eagle F1s and finding they don't do them in 16in, I just put on the rears today Goodyear efficient grip performance. been out just now in the wet and I assure you these tyres are very good in the wet! will put the same on the front 2 weeks time for sure.
before you ask why im doing mods...... I love racing, I go karting out on 100cc 125cc race karts and for me this car handles fantastic and is begging for track days, but the car needs prepping so it don't break (hopefully) and still want it to tow the trailer for the karts.
il put braided hoses on brakes and millers high temp fluid, job done on that side of things.
The engine bay mods are K&N cold air induction, piper cross crank breather, silcon hoses, cat back sports exshaust, remapped to 170bhp.
The engine had a full rebuild bottom to top by the alfa specialists and has done about 35k,
the selespeed gearbox is reconditioned, with new bits also.
the great thing with this selespeed is you can change up or down on the gear shifter, and the flappy panel at the same time which is very handy. you can select city for normal auto driving.
now I normally hate autos, with a passion, but this gearbox when you are in race trim is just fantastic, it gives you perfect shifts with great use of throttle between shifts. also provides good engine braking.
I here these cars aint so great with normal suspension and brakes, but once upgraded they change, that is a fair statement!!
so the car handles the power so far very easily, which is great and without going stupid on power 200bhp I think will be a good match for the handling. with the right remap looking for greater torque.
i don't want torgue slide etc to become and issue on track so handling over power for this car is what i think is best.
the list of mods before the remap is to take place is ;
Fast road cams / belts etc
race anti roll bars & bushes and fittings
high pressure fuel pump / race ignition coil, distributor leads and iridum spark plugs.
alloy rad / header tank, oil catcher, race water pump.
anyway im waffling on, need a coffee.....
thanks for reading if you managed, i just needed to talk some alfa love tonite, mission completed....
