Re: New User
Thanks. I'm well aware of the options, and I've spoken to AD (jano), Monza sport, rusper alfa and a few others.
I basically didn't want to go OTT on this car and drop a shed load of money I'll never see again, like I did on my last car.
I wanted to squeeze a bit more power, but didn't want to increase capacity or supercharge it. They're both 4k options through AD.
Want to keep it fairly close to standard and not spend much cash on it for a few years, and then move on to the next car.
I've had a few cars I've modified the nuts off of, and whlst it was fulfilling to some extent, watching them go for a fraction of the hardwork or capital is heartbreaking.
I was considering an M3 or a R34 (for different reasons, obviously), but they're both higher insurance and I finally got my premium down to around 1k, so I'd like it to stay there for a few years.
I paid high insurance for a few years from 19-21 with the last car, starting at over 2k/year, and I'm tired of throwing the money away.
When I've got more Ncb and I'm over 25 then I'll looking at getting a high powered car, hopefully the new v10 m3 hardtop convertible if they go through with it, or possibly a brera gta if the rumours of expected power are true.
For now I just want a car I can live with, and the GTA certainly is a dream out of the box. I had to spend a fortune on the coilovers for my last car, and the gta handles much better out of the box, with much smoother suspension without comprimising (whereas the coilovers were either smooth or well handling, but not both)
Not suggesting anything about people who are modding the nuts off their cars. If they've got the money and time they good for them.
I just don't think it's the right platform to launch into a modding campaign from. Bhp is hard to come by without spending big bugs, and even then you're getting small improvements - 150bhp from 5k isn't much, really, and the suspension and brakes aren't enough standard to cope with it, so you'd have to start playing there too.
Spend that money on an R34 and you'd already be ahead of the game. (And driving a cliché, but still)
Anyway ... I think i went on for a bit.
I try not to launch into opinionated rants too soon into being a forum member - people don't know you well enough to want to like you, so you might get ripped into, but nevermind.
