After years of restoring MG's for a living I chanced upon a 146, clean, nice interior, and an Alfa! The detractors started then and haven't stopped since, got on my nerves for a while then I just sat back and thought. " I'm enjoying this car, what the hell", after a couple of years I needed to tow a caravan so changed up to a 156 1.9 diesel, which I put 60000 miles on in 2 1/2 years, again, apart from normal tyres and brakes (and a dent in the NSF from an over eager 207 on a roundabout one dark night) it was great, not bad reliability and another one in the eye for the doomsayers, we bought a 4x4 to tow the caravan recently so now I could have the car I always wanted, I'd harboured thoughts of restoring an MGB GT for myself but I've already done far too many of them to start again, looked at Boxsters, nice car but too pricey if (when!) they go wrong. then I thought, "Alfa" obvious really, A couple of weeks of auto trader and ebay watching and I found my car in Bedford, 240 miles away at a daft price, couldn't believe it, had it 2 weeks now and I love it, just changed the cam belt, water pump, plugs, all service items xenon bulbs and a parrot hands free, so now i can relax and enjoy it.
The one fly in the ointment is that some idiot had completely removed the hood pump, cutting all the pipes and relays out. Working on that one.
