Crazed Another Noob!

Afternoon all, I thought I'd do the decent thing and introduce myself here. I'm new to Alfa, in fact at the moment, I don't even own one, but that could well be rectified in the next 24 hours.

I drive a Mondeo Estate (firms car - no choice, honest) and the wife currently has a Punto, which we are looking to replace, with something a bit newer & possibly larger. Anyway, we'd looked at the obvious, and then stumbled across the Alfa dealer, who had a row of GT's sat outside, and the wife casually commented that she quite liked the look of them. She even went straight past 2 new Breras without noticing them. We wanted something that would seat 5 (we have 3 kids), and we've now looked at all sorts, but seen nothing that the wife likes anywhere near as much as she likes the GT. And that's been about it really. Twice the price we were looking at spending, on a car not as practical as we were thinking, but well, they are gorgeous aren't they!

So now I'm off to the GT forum to ask for lots of helpful advice about buying one.

Cheers!

Hi Orson & welcome to AO

All Alfa's provide a very special driving experience, which usually results in immediate bonding between car and driver. The fact that your wife approves is icing on the cake... Yes, Alfas are gorgeous so go and trap your own GT - preferably one with a V6 engine.

Re: Another Noob!

Welcome to the forum, I hope you've had thee same response I got when I joined a few months back.

Just to emphasise AlfaMartini's point "get a V6" the sound above 5000rpm will make it worthwhile

Re: Another Noob!

Unfortunately, the V6 is going to be out of my price range

Right, I'm off for my test drive

Re: Another Noob!

The JTS will do it for you then! I know that anyway! But i will agree, having owned one, the V6 is extra special

The noise as it crested 4500 in 5th and you were having to hold it back (indicated 120 ish) ahhh.

Yes i did just floor it and go for the full hallelujah chorus experience . I am not admitting at what point i said that's enough. (er just under 6000 in the 155 V6, i'll let you draw yer own )

Enjoy the GT Mate. Right choice being made!
