Alfa 159 2.4 JTD

Hello

Have posted one or two threads so I thought I would say hello. Am on here because I am buying a 159 2.4 JTD in Oceanic Black with Black interior.
Must be barmy and perhaps it's something to do with post mid-life crisis. Have an X reg 540 Sport with all the toys at present and have got bored with it over the last 3 years. Will be giving up space, pace, drive and maybe reliabilty, though I hope not.
Have owned a large number of cars - Cosworths, Impreza WRX's, Supra TT, Ford Mexico (anyone else remember them?). Even owned a Guilliets 2.0 in the 80's. I loved that when it was going and when bits weren't falling off it. Despite aweful driving position it had something about it. Sadly, it died and I nearly did with it.
So I want something sporty, though my days of all out power have gone along with my eyesight, reactions and bravado. Must also be comfortable, different, eyecatching, and reliable. So I hope the 159 is spot on.
There must be loads of greyheads like me so perhaps Alfa has spotted a market!!!!!!
I live in Shropshire by the way.
best wishes
Alan

Re: Hello

Hi Alan
I have the 1.916v JTD and find the power very good, I can only imagine the 2.4 will really give you a huge boost. The car is very comfortable and more eyecatching than I would have hoped.
I just wish I could have afforded this kind of car when I was single!!The mini metro wasn't really a babe magnet.

Re: Hello

Hi Alan & welcome to AO!!... I'm sure you will love your 159

I'm also a "Greyhead" and like yourself I've owned several interesting & quick cars over the years but none have given me the same total satisfaction of ownership in terms of looks, character, noise and performance in an everyday package as my 147 GTA, which is my first Alfa. It has also re-confirmed my belief that although we petrol-heads may mature, we never really grow up
