166 2.0 TS

Renewed relationship with Alfa

Hi all,

I've recently bought a 2.0 TS 166 with 76,000 miles (November last year). Year 2000. and I used this web site for initial research.

Had previously owned a company supplied Nissian Terrano 4x4. What a joy to start driving again. Previous to the Teranno, I had a 1.8l 156 for a 18month period and obviously I've been tempted back.

The 166 has been all I expected and more. The look gives me a smile each morning as I go out to work and the preformance from the car means the longer the driver the wider the smile.

I had initial concerns re MPG before I bought which wasn't helped by the trip computeer set to US MPH. All sorted now and I've managed to average 30.7 MPG over 4,000 miles.

The car is now due for service and since i've bought locally from a private seller he's put me in touch with an independant garage who looked after the car for him.

That's the story so far and I look forward to interacting with you all. Great site.

Glen,

Welcome to the forums, its a great place to be.

I'm really surprised at your consumption. I've had my 2.5V6 166 for a couple of weeks and have averaged 29.4 over 2100 miles.

Sam

Re: Renewed relationship with Alfa

Hi Glen congrats on the purchase, the 166 is a beauty of a car and I nearly bought one myself before I went silly and got the GTA.

From things I have seen, 30mpg seems pretty fair for a 2.0TS especially in a big car like that. Remember the TS will need to be worked more than the V6.

And don't forget to post some pics if you have any.

Ed.

Hi Glen & welcome to AO forum.
My GTA isn't my first Italian car but it is my first Alfa, and the smile which you decribe is constantly with me, whether I'm approaching the car or just thinking about it On the move it becomes a stupid lopsided grin
