Delayed Intro

Hello, have been a member for a few weeks now and havent even introduced myself (how rude). I am new to alfa ownership but am finding sites such as this invaluable for help and information.

Only a few weeks into ownship and a service is due in about 400 miles!! eek time to sample this side of the experience.

Anyone know how much I should be paying and what is involved in the 96,000 mile service on a 156 2.5V6 ? Any pointers on whos the best place to use in my area ? (based in Sandhurst Berks.)

Thanks guys.

Re: Delayed Intro

Dan, there's a thread by Hoygaard at the top of the Just Images lounge entitled 'How To Post Pictures'. Follow the instructions and you can't go wrong.

Re: Delayed Intro

hello

and welcome.
should get round to introducing myself sometime soon but waiting for an oportunity where the car isn't filthy or in the garage to take some decent photos.

you could do worse than contact AlfaAid over in maidenhead they've been very helpful in a couple of trickey situations i've found myself in. don't know what the going rate is for your service good luck

cheers

The last owner used to use them so I have considered them. They dont seem to have a website but I have found thier number. I have settled for AH Motorsports as they appear to have a good rep and are closer to me. Another possibility was Alfanatic in Fleet, but again they are further away. (although still only a few miles from me)

Thanks guys.
Cost according to the Autodelta site is 196 +vat for V6, an independant specialist could be slightly less ....a fairly big service.....Typical schedule for all recent Alfa engines.

Operations to be performed at 96,000 miles.

Check tyre condition, wear & pressure
Check front brake pads for wear & operation or wear indicator
Check rear brake pads for wear
Check condition & tightness of brake & fluid lines, power steering, joint caps and drive shaft boots
Check condition of paintwork, underbody protection, all pipes & lines, (exhaust fuel & brake) & all other components (hoses/boots/bushes)
Check condition and tension of all auxiliary drive belts, adjust if necessary (*replace every 72,000 miles)
Check condition of counter balance shaft belts (if fitted)
Check hand brake level travel, adjust if necessary
Check valve clearances, adjust if necessary (JTD versions)
Replace air cleaner element (petrol engines)
Replace air cleaner element (JTD versions)
Check fluid levels and top up if necessary - brake, clutch, power steering, engine coolant, battery, screen washer etc.
Check operation of engine control system - using Examiner
Check transmission oil level
Replace engine oil and filter

Renew pollen filter - charge extra (if fitted)
Replace brake fluid if applicable (every 24 months)
Check hood operation if applicable and condition of all seats adjust if necessary
Check hood pump oil level if applicable - top up if necessary
Reset next service counter (if fitted)

Road test (inc. checking lights, wipers, washers, locks & instruments)
