Hey Hey Everybody

Hi Im new here but just wanted to say that Im going to view my first Alfa tomorrow (156 2.0 TS Selespeed) & have a few questions.

Im classed as a disabled driver so Im only licenced for autos (can the selespeed be driven as a full auto?)

Also are the 156's any good? (my brother has a 146 T-Spark & thinks they are the dogs b*ll*cks.

Any help or advice would be most welcome

Cheers dudes!

Re: Hey Hey Everybody

Hi.....there is a recent discussion about the Selespeed/Auto and entitlement to drive. The result is that yes, the Selespeed doesn't have a clutch so must really be considered an auto for licence purposes.

It does have an auto mode as well as the flappy paddles.

Re: Hey Hey Everybody

Hey trunk monkey welcome to the forum. Is the 156 any good, hmmmm well I certainly think so. When looking I would say biggest thing to check is the age mileage of the car and whether the cambelt has been done. Do a search and you will find out that while Alfa say it will last until 72,000 miles you shouldn't let it go past the 48,000 mile service unless you want a big bill. That aside it's a great car, brilliant engines and you will become an alfa addict. I am now on my third alfa, the previous ones were older and both were reliable and fun to drive.

Re: Hey Hey Everybody

The Alfa in question has actually done 48,000 miles but no cambelt change. Its up for 3500 & looks in very good condition. What do you think?

Re: Hey Hey Everybody

Depends on age and condition...plus it needs the belts, tensioners and idlers replacing. A good bargaining point.
