Returning to the fold...
It's been a long dry Alfa spell, but I decided to return to the Alfa Romeo marque...Last time it was a 1965 Giulia Veloce that I bought in 1966...sorry I let that one go. But there have been many great cars of German, English, and Italian pedigrees along the way.
Got rid of my 2000 911 Cabriolet last year, after 140k (without a single problem), because I figured my luck would expire shortly. Went a year without a roadster, which is way too long and after a weekend at Lime Rock, decided, somewhat on a whim, to look around for something interesting with an open cockpit.
Wouldn't you know it, but a 1982 Spider popped up for sale right in my backyard and I snapped it up. Literally, 2 miles from me, I found her in the garage of the former owner's daughter. Her dad passed away a few years ago, but she hung onto it for sentimental reasons.I slipped into the cockpit to take her for a spin, but the daughter carefully removed dad's well-used tobacco-tan driving gloves that graced the dash before I left.
Anyway, I bought her, and now the labor of love begins as I fix what needs fixin'.
First project is the suspension...all original and in need of shocks, bushings, straps and so on. Any advice is appreciated.
Despite my earlier experiences with an Alfa, I feel like an absolute newbie on this one, so I'll be looking for suggestions and advice as the summer of Alfa II begins....
