Crazed hello from a newbie

im steve, and ive just become a new member, to this forum, ive been wanting an alfa for ages n ages, but for some reason, never got round to owning 1, i supose the build quality years ago was putting me off, but that said, i am now the owner of a 52reg 156 turismo 1.8 (face lift model) she runs really well, with no problems at the moment, but im a bit worried, reading all the pains people have, the car is currently on 55k and its next service due at 60k i believe, some advice(some already recived, + greatly appreciated) would be welcome, as to caring for my new baby. i have no pevious knowledge of alfas, and there wellbeing, so any advice will be very helpfull indeedy, SO ONCE AGAIN A BIG HI TO ALL, and hope to talk soon tc... steve

ps. ive tried to put some pics on, ta show ya, but its saying the files to big. so at a later date.

Re: hello from a newbie

Hi Steve, and welcome from another newbie. Great to hear you're finally living your dream!

Not too much to worry about really. Just make sure you get your belts changed right away, if they've not already been done, and keep your oil topped up with a good quality synthetic.

Oh yes, and find yourself a good independent specialist garage asap - plenty of recommendations on here. It's very reassuring to have someone who knows and loves Alfas taking your car for a drive and telling you that everything's fine.

Looking forward to seeing the pics.

Re: hello from a newbie

Hello hello hello

Belts every 36k miles, along with tensioners and variator. If it's on 55 with no change then get em done!
Apart from that, red-line it every now and then, they seem to break less when you do that
