Alfa Tech in Hudds did the full cambelt service, cambelt kit, water pump, variator and balance belt/tensioner 500+vat, CW Lear in Bradford which would have been closer had a 2 week wait, and I couldn't wait that long (I was excited but refused to drive the car till I had the cambelt done and I was happy)
I asked them to have a quick look round while they had the engine open, they called me and said that camshaft number 3 was showing signs of wear (or something along those lines)...although it was running fine at the moment if it went later the cambelt and the lot would have to come off. He said a brand new one was about 400 quid plus labour, although he had one from another engine he could put in which was in very good condition for 100 and I could have the car back same day...so I went with that. He mentioned that it was a common thing on the JTS engine?? They showed me the old one and how it had worn out when I picked it up.
Apart from that he gave the car a clean bill of health and practically made me promise to check the oil on a regular basis!!
I talked to him in depth about oil and they use fully synth 10w40 unless you ask and are willing to pay the extra for selina 10w60, they don't see it as an issue and recommend 10w40 fully synth.
I also mentioned the turpentine substitute in a full tank of fuel to clean injectors and he recommended it.
I asked him about window nodes and upgrading the ecu software and he said first he had heard of it?
He said they didn't do the waxoyl underseal thing either.
and boyyy is it a gorgeous drive and I have no need to watch porn now ever again...I can just look at the car lol
Everybody that has seen it and taken it for a spin comes back with a whole new view on alfas
