Sorry to hear that your Alfa experience has not been any good.
Timing belt inspection (I'm guessing that's what your referring to) by your Alfa dealer is always going to be a bit of a problem. AFAIK nobody can predict how long a belt will last for....even if it looks in good condition. It could be a year or more ......or only a few weeks - you just can't tell. So Alfa's servicing requirement to inspect the timing belt at 36,000 miles will only indicate if it needs immediate replacement. It certainly won't show that it's good until 72,000 miles. If you read some of the other threads on AO about timing belt failures you will see a lot more - the only way to be sure is to replace it early. BTW it's not only Alfas that have timing belt problems.
